Several countries are more and more aware of the importance of energy savings and environment sustainability. One of this is India, where information about this subject is still poor but is increasing. A survey involving 500 families was held by Navi Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak College of Engineering spanned four years (2012-2015). It showed that just 40% of the panel knew of energy use and efficient appliances. The study, published by the Indian website Hindustan Times, also found 35% were not aware of what star-ratings for ACs was; only 5% owned 5-star rated ACs; 46% did not know of star-rated refrigerators and just 6.3% used 5-star ones.
