Elica received the IDEA award, the International Design Excellence Awards assigned to the Italian company by the Industrial Designers Society of America for its Summilux hood. It is a very elegant model, a chandelier hood in white glass with frosted glass finish, awarded as silver winner by a prestigious commission of design experts. The combination between mirror polished steel – in the stainless steel version -, or mirror copper – in the copper version – and patinated glass creates the right balance between emotion and technology, making the product ideal for being installed on different styles of kitchens, both modern and classic. The hood is equipped with a double source of light: an intense ambient light and a Led disk oriented to the hob for perfect lighting of the work area. Moreover, Summilux has sensors that can detect the type of cooking and the quantity of emitted vapors, activating the automatic adjustment of the suction level.
IDEA is an annual event able to attract hundreds of candidates from more than 50 countries around the world, divided into 20 categories. The winners were communicated at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta during the IDEA 2017 Gala Ceremony.
