In April 2015 the European Ceced (Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers) presented its vision for the future of home the appliance industry in the Continent, an ambitious program to relaunch the sector and underline its importance and role in the manufacturing area and in the social life of Europe. Now Ceced presents its first Home Appliance Europe report, providing detailed coverage of the social, economic and ecological contribution the home appliance sector makes to Europe and Europeans. The launch has been hosted by MEP Brando Benifei (Socialists and Democrats, Italy) and in the presence of Paul Hodson (DG ENER), Hugo Maria Schally (DG ENV), Dario Tamburrano (MEP, Italy) and Birgit Weidel (DG GROW). Reinhard Zinkann, Ceced president (also executive director and co-proprietor, Miele & Cie KG), presented the first results of the project with satisfaction: “it is with great pleasure – he said – that I present to you this report. It provides an overview of one of Europe’s most established industries and demonstrates that our sector can be part of the solution for tackling some of the key challenges Europeans face today. It highlights the jobs we provide, the economic value we create and the important steps we continue to take on innovation, trade, energy efficiency and sustainability.”
