Samsung Electronics America and Samsung Austin Semiconductor rank at No. 9 on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Power Partnership Top 30 Tech & Telecom list and No. 57 on the National Top 100 List. The rankings represent the largest green power users among technology and telecommunications partners and overall partners, respectively, within EPA’s Green Power Partnership. The company specifies that each year it offsets a percentage of its energy consumption with renewable wind energy. it is also currently supporting nearly 145 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power production annually. According to the EPA, Samsung’s green power purchases are equivalent to the annual electricity use of more than 12,000 average American homes. «Samsung has a long-standing commitment to reducing the environmental impacts associated with our electricity use – explained Michael Lawder, Senior Vice President of Customer Care at Samsung Electronics America. – This recognition by the EPA is validation of our ever increasing sustainability efforts and we’re honored to be named a national leader in green power usage.»
