Good results for German electrical and electronic industry

According to the national sector association Zvei, the German electrical and electronic industry will close 2017 with an increase of 2.5%, a good results that follows the positive trend of the latest years. The industry production grew by 1.1 % in 2016 and by 1.4% in 2015. Last year the total turnover reached 178.5 billion euro, representing 11% of total German industrial production. Export was also strong to all the main geographical area. Looking at the latest available data, in September 2017 the exports of the German electrical and electronic industry increased by 6.4% (year over year) to 17 billion euro. Moreover, this has been the second highest export figure in absolute terms ever recorded for a month so far. In the full first three quarters of this year the sector’s overall deliveries came to 147.2 billion euro and, therewith, exceeded their corresponding pre-year level by 10.2%. From January to September 2017, the industry production grew by 4.4%, the sales turnover increased by 6,8%, while exports and imports recorded a growth respectively of 10.2% and 10.8%. Also new orders reported a very good trend, with an increase of 10.2%. Deliveries to Russia went up by 15.3% (yoy) to 352 million euro, to Latin America by 13.1% to 439 million euro and to China by 11.9% to 1.6 billion euro. Exports to the euro zone increased by 6.5% to 5.4 billion euro and those to France by 5.3% to 1.1 billion euro. In contrast, the sector’s deliveries to the USA (+0.5% to 1.4 billion euro) and Italy (also +0.5% to 794 million euro) both more or less stagnated.
