Sony announced its partnership with Cogitai

Sony Corporation announced that it has teamed with Cogitai, an artificial intelligence (AI) start-up focused on next generation technologies. Specifically, Sony has invested in Cogitai and the two companies plan to collaborate towards the development of novel AI technologies using deep reinforcement learning with prediction technology that could be used as the basis for the next generation of AI applications and products. A logo of Sony Corp is seen outside its showroom in TokyoThese kind of technologies are already incorporated into Sony’s products and services, such as digital cameras and personalized TV program recommendation services and currently, activities based on AI technologies are managed by the System R&D Group in Sony Headquarters, where innovative products and services are created, including Augmented Reality Experience (SmartAR) that is incorporated into the “AR Effect” app from Xperia, activity recognition used in Xperia’s Lifelog app, and facial recognition login capabilities utilized by PlayStation 4.
