The General Assembly of APPLiA Italia formalized the appointment of Paolo Lioy as the new President of the Association for the next two years. Lioy is CEO of Whirlpool Italia & Iberia and VP Whirlpool Corporation. He will take the place of Manuela Soffientini, Chairman and Managing Direct Electrolux Appliances and Chairman Electrolux Italia, who has been in charge of the Presidency of APPLiA Italia since 2016.
To support Paolo Lioy for the next two-year period 2021-2023, as Vice Presidents: Vittorio Bertazzoni (Smeg) for International Affairs, Marco Brogi (De ‘Longhi) for Innovation and Digital Transformation, Enrico Hoffmann (BSH) for Communication, Laura Rocchitelli (Rold) for SMEs.
The Italian domestic and professional appliance industry reaches an annual turnover of 16 billion euro, has over 35,000 direct employees and produced more than 20 million appliances. The sector will have to face many challenges after a 2020 inevitably marked by the pandemic but which has shown numerous signs of vitality and proactivity. The issues of environmental sustainability, digitization and the competitiveness of the national industry will play a leading role in APPLiA Italia’s agenda. A particular focus will then be dedicated to the defense of the single European market.
