Is the KM 7897 FL hob unit with full-surface induction by Miele the winner of the prestigious iF Gold Award 2020 the highest of accolades assigned by the iF International Forum Design, that every year hands out the awards in Hanover. For the 2020 edition, the 78-strong international jury was inundated with almost 7,300 entries from 56 countries, among them the 75 iF award winners in gold.
Miele full-surface hobs adapt to the cook and not the other way round. The KM 7897 FL model allows to position up to 6 pots and pans anywhere on the 90 cm ceramic screen, and even moved around as required. The SmartSelect controls shows at a glance which setting is required for various pots and pans as the run of numbers travel around with pans as they are relocated. This smart pan recognition feature has been submitted for patents. SilentMove allows pots and pans to slide around noiselessly. This results from the printed graphics being on the underside of the ceramic screen instead of, as is usually the case, on top. A prerequisite for this to work is a particularly high-quality and transparent glass ceramic screen which is further supported by the elegant and minimalistic design.
«This induction hob is a stunner – the jury commended -. In addition to offering a dynamic and fluid cooking experience, the KM7897 FL features a pristine yet playful aesthetic. Miele’s design team has come up with a full surface cooking experience that is fun, smart, and inspiring.»
Four further Miele appliances were also granted the iF Design Award: two lab washer series and the compact washing machines from the Little Giants series (both from Miele Professional’s commercial series of models) and the Aura 3.0 island cooker hood.
