ANFEL explains consumers the economic advantages of efficient appliances

In order to make known the savings obtained by acquiring efficient appliances, and considering the progressive increase in the price of electric energy, ANFEL, the Spanish Association of household appliances manufacturers, has published an informative table that includes the annual average savings that consumers would obtain when replacing their old appliances for new high energy efficiency models. In this way, they will be able to know how much they will save each year on their electricity bill, depending on the age of their current appliance (5, 10 or 15 years) and the energy classification of the new device (A ++ or A +++). In the case of appliances of more than 15 years, or efficiencies below the average of the corresponding seniority, the table establishes that the economic savings can be much higher. It should be noted that these savings are cumulative throughout the life of the appliance, and that they begin to occur immediately, from the moment it is installed. “As an example – ANFEL explains – the replacement of a 15-year-old refrigerator-freezer (combi) with an A +++ class means, on average, a saving of 635 kWh every year, which translated into economic terms corresponds to 102 euros per year. If the replaced device were older than 15 years or less than average efficiency, the savings could reach 959 kWh and 153 euros, each year. These savings quickly compensate for the purchase of the high energy efficiency appliance.”
