Three Samsung washing machines received a special award for their ergonomic design. The awarded models are activ dualwash, AddWash and FlexWash that were honored with the Ergonomic Design Award at the Asian Conference on Ergonomics and Design (ACED) held in Tokyo, Japan. Established in 2014, the ACED is held every three years and, during the latest edition the jury selected four winners in the sectors of software, automotive products, household furniture and home appliances. Samsung washing machines obtained the Grand Prix award in the home appliances category for their special plusses. The activ dualwash features an upper sink for easier pre-treatment without having to bend down, while the AddWash has a small window on the main door, which can be opened widely when consumers have extra clothing, detergent or fabric softeners to add during the wash. The FlexWash, instead, is a sort of all-in-one laundry system that offers an upper washer and a main washer on the bottom in one compact unit.
