Does remote control represent the past of smart home appliances? It seems incredible but the intelligent devices are ready to do another jump into the future: the next frontier is the voice control, a system ready to be applied to devices of many international brands.
It is not a case that e-commerce platforms and components companies, like Cogobuy Group or Ingdan.com, have announced their intention of strengthening this sector, just focusing on voice-controlled components and systems, despite domestic appliances are not their main business.
The news was published by PR Newswire, that adds that according to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the global market for voice-controlled smart devices will reach 11.2 billion dollar at a CAGR of 35.1%. It is expected to be one of the most rapidly growing segments within smart devices industry.
Without doubts, the IoT sector is rapidly increasing in the European household appliances industry too. According to Gifam, the French association of household appliances manufacturer, last year smart devices generated 95 million euro of the total turnover of major appliances sales in the country. A value grown by 132% compared to 2014.
And what do consumer thinks about? According to Deloitte UK, there are still some doubts about this new technology. In a specific survey made by the company, 48% of respondents consider the price still prohibitive, while 26% think the technology still has to evolve.
