Samsung will produce MDA in USA

According to BusinessKorea.com, Samsung Electronics has just announced the intention of build a home appliance manufacturing plant with an annual production capacity of 2 million units to operate early next year in South Carolina (but the location is not sure yet). For the Korean company, the new factory will be the first home appliances manufacturing site in the USA. Currently Samsung realizes the domestic appliances for North America in in Tijuana, Mexico, while in in Austin, Texas it produces semiconductors system. The new plant in South Carolina should be specialized in Cooling and Washing products, focusing on refrigerators and washing machines. As BusinessKorea.com underlines, the American market is very important for Samsung, as that one-third of the company’s sales in the Consumer Electronics sector come from North America. Due to a severe competition with low-price products made in China, the company mostly target the premium market and strategies for the U.S. In addition, Samsung Electronics has recently acquired U.S.-based luxury appliances maker Dacor Inc.
