V.Merloni

After a life spent for the Italian industry and its company Indesit, born as Merloni Elettrodomestici, Vittorio Merloni died yesterday, after a long illness. He had been president of Confindustria from 1980 to 1984, being a symbol of Made in Italy and of the national manufacturing. Son of Aristide, who founded the family’s company of household appliances in 1975, Vittorio went on developing the business, making Merloni’s products among the most popular in the world, providing also a case history to the American Business School. He was 83 years old and was honorary chairman of Indesit Company and Fineldo, the family holding company that in October 2014 sold the majority stake of the company to Whripool appliances. The funeral will be held tomorrow in Fabriano (Ancona).
