In the next days the case of the merger between the appliance division of GE and Electrolux will be discussed once again by the US authorities. The District Court of Columbia has set a trial starting date of November 9, 2015. “Electrolux – as written in a special section of the Swedish company’s webside – continues to be confident in the competitive merits of the transaction that will create one of the best appliance companies with the portfolio, expertise and service to ensure that customers have the products they need at the competitive price they want”. The American authorities explained their opposition with the opinion that the merger between the two companies would create a duopoly between the American Whirlpool and Electrolux appliances with Ge.
